Ready for the plunge : A metal–organic framework with channels of approximately 6 Å in diameter lined with tert ‐butyl groups was synthesized (see picture). The structure shrinks after guest removal, and results in a highly hydrophobic porous material, which reversibly adsorbs most common gases (N 2 , O 2 , CO 2 , H 2 and CH 4 ), but essentially shows no uptake of water under saturated water vapour pressure at room temperature.
