Bisarylamines with o ‐alkoxy substituents [ o ‐NH 2 ‐C 6 H 4 ‐O(CH 2 ) 1/2/3 ] 2 react with [ n Bu 4 N] 4 [ α ‐Mo 8 O 26 ] in anhydrous acetonitrile in the presence of N , N′ ‐dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) to form a series of nanoscale molecular bola, bisorganoimido‐bridged hexamolybdates with flexible alterable lengths, in which two hexamolybdate cages are connected by the bisarylimido linkers (see scheme).
