Vase‐shaped hexanuclear (Pt 3 Pd 3 ) complexes with 9‐alkylhypoxanthinate ligands bridging three (en)Pd II units through N1 and N3 sites are reported, which bind ClO 4 − ions in their cavities, albeit not in strictly analogous ways. The structural differences reflect the flexibility of the host cation and may even be relevant to the mechanism of ClO 4 − incorporation into the host or ejection from it.
