Good sense : A highly sensitive and selective ratiometric fluorescent probe for Fe 2+ was developed by linking an Fe 2+ ‐insensitive fluorophore to an Fe 2+ ‐sensitive reporter–fluorophore fragment. The fluorescence intensity ratio increased linearly with the concentration of Fe 2+ (see scheme). The probe was applied to the ratiometric imaging of intracellular and adscititious fluctuations of Fe 2+ in live HL‐7702 and HepG2 cells.
