Au I complexes that contain dialkylbiphenylphosphane ligands show weak metal–arene interactions with the covering arene ring; these contacts are shorter than the limiting values of 3.03 and 2.83 Å found for isoleptic Ag I and Cu I complexes, respectively, and strong interactions were also found in other Ag I and Cu I complexes with this ligand. In their Full Paper on page 5324 ff. , A. M. Echavarren et al. describe dialkylbiphenylphosphane arene–Ag I complexes that have the strongest known Ag I arene bonds.
