Visual binding : Conjugated carbonohydrazone and thiocarbonohydrazone ligands selectively sense Cu 2+ with a remarkable redshift compared with other transition‐metal ions. The colorimetric sensing of Cu 2+ in the visible region by the thiocarbonohydrazone ligand was accompanied by a characteristic near‐IR signature in the region >900 nm (see graphic).
