Octanuclear lanthanide–iron clusters : The first lanthanide–carbonyl–sulfide–iron clusters were obtained by redox reactions of [(η 5 ‐C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Ln(thf) 2 ] (Ln=Sm, Yb) and [Fe 2 (μ‐S 2 )(CO) 6 ]. The resulting wheel‐shaped clusters have 14‐membered peripheral rings with [Fe 6 (μ 3 ‐S) 6 (CO) 12 ] 2− units in the center (see picture).
