Fundamental repair… (6‐4) DNA photolyases repair mutagenic UV‐induced DNA lesions using a light‐triggered electron‐transfer‐based repair mechanism. The crystal structure of the (6‐4) photolyase from D. melanogaster in complex with DNA containing a site specific T(6‐4)C photoproduct, described by T. Carell et al. on page 10387 ff. , reveals the atomic details of one of the most fundamental enzymatic genome repair systems on Earth.
