White‐light‐emitting organic molecules have received great attention for potential applications in full‐colour light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) and lighting purposes. In their Communication on page 9307 ff. , R. Varghese and H.‐A. Wagenknecht describe a DNA‐based energy donor–acceptor couple that exhibits red fluorescence in the single strand, which changes to white light upon duplex formation in a completely reversible manner. This could be an entry into the class of white‐light‐emitting materials.
