Recent breakthroughs have proved that direct palladium(II)‐catalyzed allylic CH alkylation can be achieved. This new procedure shows that the inherent requirement for a leaving group in the Tsuji–Trost palladium‐catalyzed allylic alkylation can be lifted. These initial reports hold great promise for the development of allylic CH alkylation into a widely applicable methodology, thus providing a means to enhance synthetic efficiency in these reactions.
