And the winner is? Through oxygenation of triarylphosphines by the Mn IV OH and Mn IV O functional groups in the corresponding [Mn IV (Me 2 EBC)] complexes (Me 2 EBC: 4,11‐dimethyl‐1,4,8,11‐tetraazabicyclo[6.6.2]hexadecane), it was found that the oxygenation by the Mn IV OH group in [Mn IV (Me 2 EBC)(OH)(H 2 O)] 3+ proceeds by an electron‐transfer process, whereas a concerted oxygen transfer occurs in the case of oxygenation by the Mn IV O group in [Mn IV (Me 2 EBC)(O) 2 ] (see scheme).
