Cells aglow : Nanoaggregate‐embedded beads (NAEBs) linked to a pathogen‐specific single‐domain antibody (sdAb) are used as an ultra‐bright surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) tag for detection of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by SERS microscopy. The image shows a single S. aureus cell labeled with NAEBs and its corresponding NAEB–SERS spectrum.
