Vanadium cage catalysis : High selectivity of the epoxidation of propene with anionic cluster V 4 O 11 − is demonstrated on the basis of the first‐principle calculations. Oxygen, proton, and negative charge transfers are the general reaction mechanisms (see figure) of the hydrocarbon oxidations by vanadium oxides.
