Chemical fingerprinting : The polychromatic fingerprinting of the excitation emission matrix (EEM) of diverse fluorescent substances by using common computer screens as light sources is reported. The modelling of the polychromatically excited spectra (see graphic) establishes the link with the sampling of the EEM of the tested substances and sets the theoretical frame for the interpretation of sensing techniques based on this principle.
