Backside bite : In the presence of potential donor substituents (allyl)Pd(NHC) complexes may undergo unanticipated self‐degradation via coordination‐assisted intermolecular CH activation at the NHC backbone. On the other hand, such non‐innocence offers new perspectives for NHC ligands as bridging carbene/alkenyl units in polynuclear complexes, where both the normal and abnormal positions engage in metal coordination (see picture).
