A new class of titanocene complexes such as depicted displays very high induction of apoptosis and hence selectivity against leukemia and tumor cells. First in vivo experiments (see graphic) exhibit significant inhibition of tumor growth. The correlation of biological activity with structural elements suggests the first design principles for the cytotoxicity of titanocenes.
