An array of efficient catalytic transformations has been employed for the first stereoselective total synthesis of the lipid phthiocerol dimycocerosate A (PDIM A). It has been shown previously that this cell‐wall‐associated lipid, the structure of which has now been confirmed, is required for Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulence.
