The 18th hole : Novel 18‐membered zinc–nitrogen ring systems are readily accessible from the reaction of Me 2 NNH 2 and R/R′Zn (R=R′=C 6 F 5 ; R=R′=Ph; R=Et, R′=Cl) and subsequent work‐up with acetonitrile. More forcing conditions are required in the case of R=R′=Et. The intriguing solid‐state structures have been identified by X‐ray crystallography using synchrotron radiation (see scheme), and these new complexes undergo hydrolysis to give acetamide hydrazones.
