Abstract In an territory formed after building a hydroelectric power plant „Iron Gates‐Djerdap” generating a lake and naturally filled with a lot of important features, like animal and plant life, attractive surroundings and landscapes, historical, anthropogenic and cultural attractions, the idea of modernization and consolidation of the present road route stretching the left bank of the Danube was of prime importance. The paper will present some technical solutions implemented for bank protections, consolidations and structures to enlarge the road platform in order to reach the minimum width for safety and parking spaces. Those are solutions with special features through the relationship with the variable soil characteristics, also with the environment and by the nature of the actions, demands and performance requirements to which they are subjected during their lifetime.
