This research work aims the evaluation of the dynamic structural response of steel‐concrete composite footbridges, based on the experimental tests and numerical modelling. The investigated structural system is related to a real and existing steel‐concrete pedestrian footbridge, which presents two spans of 29.5m and 24m, respectively, and a total extension of 53.5m. The structural model is located at the Osvaldo Aranha Street, next of the new Maracanã Stadium, at the city of Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil. Based on the developed analysis methodology, the dynamic structural response of the investigated footbridge is compared to the limits proposed by design standards and recommendations, aiming to evaluate the performance of the structure when the human comfort is considered.
