ABSTRACT Stahlbau Pichler with Headquarter and Production in Bolzano (I) from 17 December 2015 until 21 December 2017 has been responsible for fabrication, construction and installation of the new upper and lower station of the new areal tramway “Seilbahn Zugspitze” in Garmisch – Germany. In 2 years more than 1.100 tons of steel structures have been put on “top of Germany” optimizing logistics, installation and also fabrication. One of the biggest challenge of the project was the altitude of 3.000m above sea level of the construction site with no road access, so that all material had to be delivered to the site with a special material ropeway. Another challenge was that the construction site was always open to the public, because the client did not want to close the cableway for guests and last but not least temperature and wind had a big influence on the whole construction process.
