What will be the future of production? The simple answer is: “Process smart materials in smart factories with smart sensors to produce smart products …. for smart people ?” This is just a modern phrase! Is it as simple as this? What do we need: process analysis and technology! Process analysis is a holistic approach to bring together people with a great variety of skills and knowledge to solve the tomorrows challenges in manufacturing. This feature paper provides a strategic vision of the use of process analysis in future production and addresses the need for a science based approach.
