The Cover Feature illustrates the role of the supporting electrolyte ions on the behavior of electrografted films bearing nitrophenyl moieties. The volume of these ions as well as the size of the film channels determines the voltammetric behavior of the grafted species and the rectification phenomenon when ferrocene is used as redox probe in solution. The use of small ions allows the improvement of the reduction patterns of the nitrophenyl groups, whereas the use of bulky ions promotes the rectification of the oxidation process of ferrocene. The thickness and the size of the channels on the attached film is also controlled by the nature of the supporting electrolyte ions that are used during the electrografting process.
