Titanium silicalite‐1 samples of different particle size are synthesised and characterised by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Raman and infrared spectroscopy. Size histograms are taken from transmission electron micrographs. Temporal changes of activity and selectivity for the hydroxylation of phenol and anisole are monitored. It is postulated that the p/o product ratios are due to the greater chemisorption of the ortho molecule.
