A simple statistical theory of molecular association has been developed, taking into account only the probability of residence of one or more molecules in an association volume. The result is a one parameter model which may be applied successfully to reaction kinetics and chemical equilibria of associated compounds. General concentration time profiles are presented and limiting cases discussed. Usefulness of the principle is demonstrated on experimental results.
