Styrene Plant Ludwigshafen. The styrene value adding chain begins in the steam cracker. This is where, among others products, ethylene and benzene are extracted from the feedstock naphtha (petroleum). Both basic chemicals are used as raw materials in the production of styrene. Styrene is used to manufacture dispersions but above all foams and other plastics. Courtesy of BASF SE.
