Abstract The limitations of the existing Adomian solution for the reaction‐diffusion process in a spherical catalyst were shown and an improved solution, overcoming these restrictions, was proposed by using a novel scheme of the restarted Adomian method coupled with orthogonal polynomials. This scheme is also applicable to other similar problems and yields short and accurate expressions, thus confirming the general and effective nature of the approach.
