To avoid dangerous radiolysis gas enrichments in nonflowed pipes, the relevant parts are temperature‐monitored. A decrease in temperature indicates a radiolysis gas enrichment. In order to verify the temperature limits known so far, ignition tests with H 2 /O 2 /H 2 O mixtures were carried out in a new research project. Investigations were aimed at finding out which amount of water vapor is necessary to inertize a stoichiometric hydrogen/oxygen mixture under typical operating conditions.
