Abstract The phenol‐phenothiazine coupling reaction is attracting increasing attention, in part due to its enabling character of innovative radical, photochemical, and electrochemical concepts. Indeed, this C−N bond forming cross dehydrogenative coupling accommodates almost any oxidizing strategy, often with mild reaction conditions. This concept paper analyses the particularity of this simple, cheap, and reliable coupling reaction, and discusses some of its probable future applications.
