The Inside Back Cover picture shows a schematic drawing of the hydrated sodium species on the surface of γ‐Al 2 O 3 support. Na 2 CO 3 /γ‐Al 2 O 3 was shown to be an extremely efficient catalyst for the pyrolytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into fuel precursors. In their Full Paper, K. Seshan and co‐workers have employed solid‐state NMR and TGA‐MS techniques to identify the active species in the Na 2 CO 3 /γ‐Al 2 O 3 material. Results from such characterization techniques agree very well with theoretical calculations and suggest the formation of a sodium species in the catalyst. The article highlighted by this cover can be found on p. 1833 ff. of Issue 12, 2015.
