Switch it on: η 6 ‐arene–transition‐metal complexes are significant intermediates in organic chemistry; however, their use in CH functionalization remain largely unexplored. Recently, new methodologies for the Pd‐catalyzed CH activation of unreactive sp 2 and sp 3 bonds that rely on the efficient activation of arenes by π‐complexation have been developed. These reactions significantly expand the toolbox of modern CH activation methods.
