Keep it simple! A simple silica gel immobilized nano‐Ru catalyst was prepared using ionic liquid 1‐butyl‐3‐methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate as the solvent to dissolve RuCl 3 , as the template for the in situ formation of mesoporous silica gel and as the carbon source to build RuC on/inside SiO 2 . The Ru/SiO 2 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and shape‐selectivity in the selective hydrogenation of nitrobenzenes.
