Versatile hydrogen source: A number of intriguing features of benzothiazoline are summarized to highlight its achievement in the reduction of CN bonds. Its inherently versatile skeleton will allow benzothiazoline to become an important complement to the Hantzsch ester and find broad applications in the field of transfer hydrogenation.
