Pushing HER over the edge! By using ionic liquids as the synthesis media, MoS 2 samples with a greater population of the catalytically active edge sites, compared to the control samples, can be prepared. Consequently, these catalysts exhibited superior electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).
