Deadly cerias: The decomposition of organics in a CeO 2 /H 2 O 2 system is achieved through their reaction with the interfacial peroxide species on CeO 2 . The reactivity however relies on a necessary level of Ce 3+ for activation. The concentration of Ce 3+ from the interfacial peroxide species was ensured by the reaction of adsorbed organics.
