Surface does matter: Lewis acidic Al and Lewis basic O atoms of γ‐Al 2 O 3 interact through multiple strong interactions with adsorbed methyltrioxorhenium. The major species, which coordinates through oxo ligands, readily adopts an octahedral geometry, whereas the minor μ 2 ‐CH 2 species prefers a lesser degree of coordination, which is in line with its reactivity in alkene metathesis.
