Chloromethylation of aromatic hydrocarbons is catalyzed by the recyclable and temperature‐dependent phase‐ separation system composed of PEG 1000 ‐dicationic ionic liquid (DIL) and methylcyclohexane in aqueous media to give products in good to excellent yields.
