Indwelling arterial catheterization is frequently performed in acute and critical care settings. The procedure is generally considered safe. Radial arterial occlusion resulting in vessel thrombosis, ischemic neuropathy, and/or digital ischemia is uncommon yet carries significant morbidity. Early recognition and timely management is imperative.
