Key Clinical Message Certain histopathological findings have been described in acute myeloid leukemia ( AML ) patients during treatment that define the hematologic outcomes. Such entities as bone marrow necrosis and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis have been reported. These often result in severe pancytopenia.
