Key Points The optimal management of acute decompensated aortic stenosis (AS) remains a clinical conundrum. Urgent transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is feasible and associated with lower readmissions rates than urgent balloon aortic valvuloplasty. In contemporary practice, TAVI may be the treatment of choice of patients admitted with acute decompensated AS.
