Key Points It is almost impossible to differentiate Takotsubo syndrome from acute coronary syndrome (ACS) on initial presentation. One can usually elicit a history of a sudden emotional or physically stressful event suffered by the patient before presenting with Takotsubo syndrome. Takotsubo syndrome more often occurs in females. New evidence suggests that Takotsubo syndrome can coexist with ACS.
