Key Points Except for a reduction in the rate of repeat revascularization, there was no benefit of EES over BMS in 1‐year and 5‐year clinical outcomes for diabetic patients with STEMI. In nondiabetic patients, a beneficial effect of using EES was observed in most clinical endpoints at 5 years. Overall, diabetic patients were associated with significantly worse long‐term outcomes following PCI for STEMI compared to nondiabetics.
