Key Points For left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO), intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) could be a safe alternative to transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). ICE obviates the need for general anesthesia and can be readily implemented in practice. Randomized controlled trials are needed to assess the noninferiority of ICE to TEE for LAAO.
