Key Points Acute kidney injury (AKI) following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) is a significant predictor and additive to the EuroSCORE as a determinant of TAVI mortality. Baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), BMI, and major vascular bleeding are independent predictors of decline in eGFR following TAVI. Preimplant identification of patients at high risk for AKI is mandatory. Utilization of preventive measures should include contrast minimization, staging the preprocedure evaluation, avoidance of hypotension, and minimizing vascular complications.
