Obstruction of the so‐called Fontan tunnel represents a life‐threatening complication and requires immediate intervention. We describe the successful use of prolonged thrombolysis with rt‐PA, allowing stent placement in an extracardiac tunnel in a 7‐year‐old boy. © 2009 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
