Percutaneous device closure of membranous ventricular septal defects is an attractive alternative for surgical treatment. A patient with left ventricular segmental dysfunction with infarct like ECG pattern following transcatheter membranous VSD closure is presented. Possible pathophysiological mechanisms of this phenomenon are discussed. © 2006 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
