We report a 17‐year‐old man presented with palpitation. Echocardiography demonstrated secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) with marked right sided dilatation, indicating significant left to right intracardiac shunting. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging performed 3 months after transcatheter ASD closure demonstrated marked improvement in biventricular systolic function. © 2005 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
