This chapter examines the current role of community colleges in preservice and in‐service teacher education, including the development of the associate of arts degree in teacher education, the community college baccalaureate in teacher education, and alternative certification programs. Factors influencing future trends and predictions and recommendations about the community college's future role are also discussed.
