In implementing the general education program at Jefferson Community College in Louisville, Kentucky, the faculty confronted the difficulties of ensuring the teaching of competencies across the curnculum, assessing the effects of general education, and maintaining a balance between integrity to the ideals of general education and account ability for specific requirements.
