Abstract Since 1973, middle college high schools, sponsored by local community colleges, have worked with local school districts as well as parents to create unique learning enviroments for at‐risk youth. This chapter provides a model for the planning and operation of a new institution based on Middle College at LaGuardina Community College (New York) and Mott Middle College at Mott Community College (Michigan).
